Habeas and Simplicita Partner to Help ISPs Identify, Quarantine, and Disinfect Zombie Hijacked Computers

Habeas Joins Simplicita Reputation Data Partner Program

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA and DENVER, CO - October 24, 2006 - Habeas, Inc., the company that certifies the reputations of legitimate email senders, and Simplicita, the company that frees carrier networks from zombies and botnets, today announced a strategic partnership to help ISPs rid their networks of hijacked computers. As part of the alliance, the companies have integrated Habeas SenderIndex, including the Habeas SafeList, with Simplicita ZBX to provide additional sources of reputation data for identifying zombie infected machines on ISP networks. Habeas has also joined the Simplicita Reputation Data Partner (RDP) Program.

The SenderIndex data will expand ZBX's ability to pinpoint computers infected by zombie or bot malware. SenderIndex includes the reputation information of over 200 million IP addresses. A portion of these addresses includes machines known to have sent large volumes of spam, suggesting infection by a spam zombie. Habeas continuously updates SenderIndex information for every IP address that sends mail through the nearly half a million systems that query Habeas reputation services. In addition, ISP email systems can locally query the Habeas SafeList via ZBX to determine whether email is safe to deliver.

Once hijacked computers are discovered on a cable or telco network by ZBX, they are automatically switched into a safe zone where subscribers are presented with tools and resources to disinfect their machine. The Habeas-Simplicita solution allows carriers to enforce acceptable use policies, maximize network resource availability, and protect subscribers by alerting them that malware is controlling their PCs.

"Simplicita is committed to providing ISPs with the most comprehensive set of reputation data sources for identifying machines on their networks that are infected with zombie and bot malware," said Rob Fleischman, CTO of Simplicita. "This partnership with Habeas deepens the reputation assessment capabilities of ZBX and enables Habeas customers to add zombie and botnet remediation capabilities to their existing SenderIndex deployments."

"Partnering with a market leader such as Simplicita will not only add significant value to our existing offering, but will also extend the breadth and depth of our presence in the ISP market," said Des Cahill, CEO of Habeas. "This joint offering is yet another proof point to the usefulness of the Habeas SenderIndex reputation database and demonstrates continued adoption of the certification standards of Habeas SafeList."

The Habeas-Simplicita Partnership

As part of the RDP Program, Simplicita has licensed and integrated into ZBX the Habeas SenderIndex data feed, including the Habeas SafeList. The companies are also working together to expand the information included in SenderIndex to further enhance bot and botnet identification capabilities.

Pricing and Availability

The Habeas data feed for Simplicita ZBX is available immediately from Simplicita and its business partners worldwide. Data feed pricing is calculated as an annual fee based on the number of subscribers served by the ISP. Simplicita ZBX pricing is calculated per individual subscriber that is remediated by ZBX. Simplicita ZBX supports Solaris 10 on Sparc or x86, and Redhat Enterprise v4 on x86.
